Successes and Setbacks

It’s funny how it often seems that for every good thing that happens, there is always a small price to pay, or even an equal measure of something bad that happens. Let me give you an example to show you what I mean. Take my doctorate application – thankfully, I’ve been accepted into this course, which is fantastic, and cause for much celebration. And then, to make things even better, I was offered a scholarship for more than $20 000 per year. Unfortunately, the conditions required of me to accept this scholarship meant that I would have to study full time (fine…) and work no more than 8 hours per week. I just don’t think that’s feasible, with a mortgage to pay and so on – so that was a little bit frustrating. I’m still thrilled to have been offered the scholarship.
